COOL CABOODLE!!
Check out this gorgeous layout and two cards which are located on page 16 of the Close To My Heart 2010 Spring Idea Book. Below are Tips & Techniques for you as well as Recipes for you to recreate these wonderful works of art!!

Tips & Techniques:
Colorizing Irresistibles:
* Using a Sponge Dauber, carefully apply ink to the desired irresistibles Lots of Dots image, avoiding surrounding images.
* Pick up the adhesive-backed image with piercing tool. This will help keep your hands from touching the adhesive, maintaining its strong bond, and will result in a more accurate placement on the project.
* Place letters gently on page so that they only partially adhere and can be easily moved. Once you feel comfortable with their placement, smooth them down to adhere completely.

National Papercrafting Month Is Almost Over!!

Think back to kindergarten, you donned a plastic apron, armed yourself with brushes and paint pots, and created art. In fourth grade you got a lesson in origami and folded a beautiful -- if slightly smooshed -- paper crane. When you got to sixth grade, you were instructed to create a diorama of the age of the dinosaurs, and you constructed the Paleolithic Age from cardboard and paper mache.

You've been papercrafting your whole life. Why not celebrate it? Now your papercrafting likely involves making exquisitely crafted greeting cards or beautifully designed scrapbook pages. Papercrafts for you now might be altering a cookie sheet to make a magnetic calendar, or creating a welcome sign for your home using your scrapbooking supplies.

No matter how you craft, you'll love the Felicity Collection created exclusively for January's National Papercrafting Month. You'll be thrilled by the decorative die-cut paper, three gorgeous color schemes, and D-size stamp set that includes flowers, flourishes, argyle, birds and an entire alphabet! The possibilities are endless. How will you papercraft with Felicity?

There are only a couple days left to take advantage of this great collection. To get yours place your order on my website: keeleyskreations.myctmh.com

Technique: Ruffle Technique No. 2
Question: Do you have a favorite tool? What papercrafting gadget do you find simply indispensable?

Little Upgrades, Big Impact

Even small improvements completed on your house can bring about huge benefits. Little upgrades like hanging new shutters, painting the kitchen cabinets, and putting a new faucet in the bathroom are seemingly simple, but the added value to the home is far above what you'll spend at the hardware store.

These little improvements are exactly like the enhancements made to the Idea Book. Just a couple adjustments have added amazing value for you because we've updated the look and feel of the Idea Book so it works better for you. There are many small upgrades throughout, but the biggest enhancements are threefold.

1) The size of the stamp sets are enlarged from 50% to 75%. This was done so you can see the fine, stunning detail that goes into every stamp we sell.

2) The size of the artwork is now increased so you can view the details of the project and create it for yourself at home. We've also scattered artwork throughout the Idea Book to make every page a place where your artistic ideas can grow and flourish.

3) Accessories are now organized by product line. For example, albums, embellishments, tools, etc. This makes all your favorite accessories easy to find and the sections more reader friendly.

The Idea Book is where you (and I) fall in love with Close To My Heart products, learn about them, add them to wish lists, and see them in beautiful artwork. The Idea Book is also full of wonderful, creative ideas for your artwork. It's a personal artwork tutor for you and me!

Delight In Darling Details

Here is a quick look at the features and benefits of a few of our exciting new products in the Spring Close To My Heart 2010 Idea Book.

The most important part of scrapbooking is the story told through journaling and photos. But let's not forget the fun part -- the finishing touches!! Here are four new products complete with a list of their features and benefits!!

Z1270 Soft Suede Pinwheels

Features:

* Soft, suede-like fabric adds touchable, unique texture
* Custom-stitched with Chocolate thread in intricate swirls
* Fabric is thin and flexible, not stiff or bulky

Benefits:
* Can be inked to bring out velvety texture
* Give the look of hand-stitching without ever picking up a needle
* Perfect for layering with each other or with other embellishments
* Petals can be shaped with scissors for variety

Z1271 Tiny Tabs

Features:
* Glossy, dimensional designs atop sturdy metal tabs with an adhesive strip
* Circle-shaped tab echoes circle-shaped epoxy design

Benefits:
* Strong enough to act as pull-tabs for hidden journaling or tags in pockets
* Use them in a series to create repetition, an essential element of design
* Slip a piercing tool underneath the epoxy icon and gently remove it from the metal tab. Adhere the epoxy sticker directly to your project! The metal tabs can then be used on other artwork.

Z1269 Filigree Charms

Features:
* Sophisticated charms include matching brads for easy attaching
* Pewter finish gives charms a shabby chic look
* Designs are geometric, classy and timeless

Benefits:
* Charms add ornate detail but are simple to use
* Can be inked with StazOn or pigment ink
* Use them in girl- or boy-themed pages for vintage appeal
* Swap out the matching brad for one with color for an extra pop

Z1261 Color-Ready Irresistibles Lots of Dots

Features:
* White Daisy polka-dot pattern is nearly invisible until ink is applied
* Can be colored with markers, ink, chalk, watercolor pencils, and more!

Benefits:
* Irresistibles are great for kids because the patterns appear "like magic" when the stickers are colored
*Polka dots create visual texture but are still neutral enough to use on any project
* No matter what your project is, you'll always be able to color your Irresistibles to coordinate!
* Creating a gradient effect is easy - just color each sticker with two different markers, then use a blending pen to mix them. Color them while they are still on their backing sheet so they don't lose their stickiness.

You can purchase any of the above items on my website: keeleyskreations.myctmh.com

The Genius of Patterns

Have you ever seen a skyscraper being built? Workers use lots of scaffolding to support the building as it grows taller and taller. As each floor is completed, they raise the scaffolding to start on the next one.

Scaffolding is also an instructional technique. Teachers support the students and graudally boost the difficulty of the skills being learned. The teachers are there at the students' level every step of the way, and the learners increase in confidence and ability. Does that sound familiar? It might remind you of Close To My Hearts slogan: Let me show you how.

Close To My Heart appeals to a broad audience because we provide scaffolding to build confidence. I as a consultant, begin at every customer's level, wherever that may be, and provide you opportunities for success so that you become comfortable with your skills -- then it's time to move to the next level.

Patterns Are Functional
The joints that tie all our scaffolding together are the scrapbook patterns found in our foundational how-to books, Reflections, Cherish, Imagine, Wishes and Originals. They are the heart of or Faster. Simpler. Easier. philosophy.

Simply Beautiful
Beginners can start with My Reflections Level 1 kits, containing preprinted scrapbook pages based on Jeanette Lynton's patterns from Reflections.

Especially Creative
When learners gain enough confidence to mjove up a level, they can start building their own pages based on the patterns in the how-to books and using the paper in the Level 2 paper packs. Level 2 layouts use paper and embellishments to achieve their beauty--no stamping is required.

Masterfully Rewarding
By now the learner has amassed enough successful experience to feel truly confident. Level 3 layouts are based on the foundational patterns, but now the learner incorporates stamping to personalize and embellish the layout.

Do you see the scaffolding? At each level, Close To My Heart supports the learner. As learners gain more positive experiences with scrapbooking, they gain more creative control, bit by bit, until they feel confident as scrapbookers and designers in their own right.

Patterns Are Versatile
Patterns are a great tool for beginners--and experts! Because they can be customized in so many ways, our patterns can provide a lifetime's inspiration. We started adding up how many different layouts you can get just by using 25 different patterns and 40 different paper kits, and we realized it's more than 192,000 layouts even before you count the possibilities created with different embellishments and text!

Here are just a few things you can do with our patterns:

1) Rotate the individual page.
2) Swap the pages left to right.
3) Change the paper (switch B&T Duos paper and cardstock, or change kits altogether).
4) Add a title and journaling to fit your supplies.
5) Embellish your layout with custom accents.

You're going to love the many different looks you get. Even if you spend your whole life using just a couple dozen patterns, you can have different layouts every time.

Patterns Build Confidence
Because all of Close To My Heart's patterns incorporate the principles of design, they are timeless. When used with our paper packs, they virtually guarantee success. And that feeling of success is vital for learners to be able to progress and grow.

Our patterns help beginners overcome that initial "scrapbooker's block," which sets the stage for more successful experiences and grows confidence. Since the patterns are so timeless, they can be used as stand-alone guides, or they can provide the vehicle for practicing new artistic techniques, simple to advanced. You can use the how-to books on your own to take advantage of Jeanette's classic patterns, even if I'm not physically with you.

Just as we utilize all floors of a skyskraper, even after we become confident we continue to use all levels of scrapbooking. You can be experienced in Level 3 scrapbooking and still save time and effort by using Level 1 or 2 techniques and products.

At first you might think, "I'm not a crafter," but when you succeed, you begin to think, "I can do this!" and even, "I can do this on my own!" And that's where our comparison of patterns to scaffolding ends, because after workers build a skyscraper, they have to take down the scaffolding to see the beautiful final product. But in scrapbooking, you never need to remove Jeanette Lynton's foundational patterns because they give you the flexibility to papercraft at all levels.
